Changing Lives in Guatemala

There are 326 Elementary aged children enrolled at Wake Christian Academy. Every day, they learn about Jesus, eat a meal, and sleep in a warm bed at night. Yet in Guatemala, over 31% of children never start school. In fact, more than 29% of children will be involved in child labor before the age of fourteen. “Guatemala is a country that struggles with deep poverty and tragic social issues”(1).  But we can make a difference.

This year, 16 Juniors and Seniors from WCA are partnering with Kids Alive International and will be heading to San Lucas, Guatemala to minister at Oasis, a residential home for girls who have been abandoned or abused. Prior to their spring break trip, our students will be working to raise money at the Mission Outreach 5K and Fun Run. All money raised at the 5K and Fun Run will go towards sponsoring a girl from the Oasis for an entire year.  Your participation will provide this girl with a safe and loving home, Christian caregivers, meals, clothes, medical care, a quality education, and introduction to the love of Jesus.  Please prayerfully consider how your family can make a difference in the lives of these orphans.

James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
