Editor’s note: The staff at The Bulldog Football Report has been sidelined due to illness this week, so we hope you enjoy this condensed edition of TBFR.

The Post-game with Coach Cochran

The Bulldog Football Report spoke to Coach Cochran after the Village game and he offered the following analysis:

TBFR: Coach Cochran, give us your overall thoughts on the Village game.
CC: Village came out with a terrific attacking game plan. Their adjustments to our defensive schemes from the previous week forced us to adjust accordingly. In the first game we rushed for over 300 yards and it was clear they were prepared to stop the run. Fortunately for us we had a great passing game, throwing for almost 300 yards. And as I have said all along, Village is a well-coached team and they responded as I expected. But I do love the way our team came out in the second half with passion and intensity.

TBFR: As you prepare for the Concord First Assembly on Friday, what are some of the things the Bulldogs should continue to do?
CC: We have been very physical overall since the Harrells game. We need to continue to do that on both sides of the ball. We have done a great job controlling the penalties and need to keep that up as well.

TBFR: Looking at things to avoid, are there things the Bulldogs simply can’t do and be successful Friday night?
CC: The biggest thing on my mind is staying focused. We are trying to go 1-0 every week. Sometimes winning streaks make you take success for granted, so we need to focus on this game and nothing else. Seizing this moment is what we have been communicating to the players all week. We will also benefit from a packed house of loud and rowdy Bulldog fans and a lot of energy from the WCA Pep Band.

Quick notes…

Will Cruikshank led the Bulldogs with 7 tackles…Seth Bunn had 2 sacks…Adam Jones, Camden Woods, and Andrew Hinton each had a sack…Adam DiSena recovered a fumble…Robert Roe and Caleb Vick each had an interception..

The Bulldogs generated 444 yards of total offense…Nathaniel Williams had 3 TD passes…Cody Carpenter had one touchdown pass…Neither QB has an interception…John Kirkpatrick led the receiving corps with 100 yards and 2 TDs…Trevin Muse added 58 yards receiving and a TD….Evan DiSena had a TD catch…Greyson Williams caught a 2 point conversion…Adam Jones led the Bulldogs in rushing with 43 yards and 2 TDs…Trevin Muse gained 42 yards.

With the win WCA moves to 8-3 on the season and to the semifinals of the NCISAA Division III playoffs…with the loss Village finishes their season at 4-6, losing four of their last five games.

Kickoff is at 7:00.
