WCA Student Receives National Recognition in Piano
In the life of a musician, spring is a time for concerts, recitals, and performances. One WCA student has
earned recognition on a national level in piano. Mitchell Moody won first place in the Free Will Baptist
Christian Training Service competition this past year. He and his family went to Grand Rapids, Michigan
last summer for the final leg of the process and came back victorious. This summer Mitchell will again
compete on the national level in Kansas City, Missouri, having recently won the state finals. Becoming a
competent instrumentalist takes years of practice and effort, so we are especially proud of Mitchell for
his determination towards excellence. Mitchell has been a student of Mrs. Norma Fincher’s since his
early elementary days and participates in the Strings classes at WCA as well as the music program in his
home church at Tippett’s Chapel in Clayton. At his recital last week, Mitchell played Rachmaninoff’s
difficult and challenging Prelude in G minor on the piano as well as Concerto No. 3 by Seitz on his viola.
Congratulations Mitchell for a job well done!
