Franklin Pierce Educational Foundation Check Presentation
Wake Christian Academy was recently presented with a $75,000 ceremonial check from members of the Franklin Pierce Educational Foundation. These funds will be used to provide need-based tuition assistance for WCA students. FPEF President Allan Swicegood (‘88) and FPEF Boardmember Trent Pierce (‘86) were assisted in the presentation by donors Stephen and Shelley Ashby.
The Ashbys contributed a $10,000 matching challenge donation to the FPEF Golf Tournament in September. Mrs. Ashby shared, “It is our pleasure to come alongside the Franklin Pierce Foundation to raise funds in an effort to help provide a Christian based education to so many children annually.” In addition, Russwood Manufacturing and the Carroll Family contributed a matching challenge donation of $30,000. Through the generosity of these two families and their matching challenge gifts, the FPEF was able to make its single largest gift to the school’s need-based financial aid endowment.
The Franklin Pierce Educational Foundation is a non-profit foundation established in 2004 by alumni and named in memory of Wake Christian Academy’s first Head of School, Franklin Pierce. The foundation’s mission is to promote and fully-fund the annual financial-aid given to eligible families, and to grow the endowment for the long-term support of WCA’s need-based financial-aid program. The foundation is operated by a volunteer Board of Directors. During the 2019-2020 school year, the Foundation is assisting over 116 WCA students. Financial Aid is open for all WCA families to apply. Applications are evaluated by a 3rd party organization and families must apply annually. Aid is given based solely on need.
Since 2004, the FPEF has given over $463,000 to Wake Christian Academy.
