Senior Spotlight on Allie Hallstrand

Can you imagine staring down from a ten-meter platform, into a deep blue pool, ready to dive? Wake Christian Senior Allie Hallstrand loves the exhilaration and the thrill of diving from that height!

Allie performs both springboard and higher “tower” dives. She has spent years working-up to more difficult five, seven, and ten meter dives. She was first exposed to diving at age nine, when her sister tried the sport.

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused our Class of 2020 to miss being on campus during their last weeks of high school. It has also caused Allie to miss much of the spring competition season. Like many athletes, she has been busy training at-home, using Zoom to stay connected to her coach and to her team. Prior to spring 2020, Allie and her family traveled all-over to competitions; as far away as Texas, Florida, and Maryland.

College Plans

During her high school career, Allie has competed with the Duke Diving Club, and she is excited to continue diving at Liberty University this fall. She will study pre-med, and hopes to become a Physician Assistant. Thankfully, she has already connected with other student-athletes at Liberty on the same path she hopes to follow. Allie says she loves the culture at Liberty and she looks forward to being fully-immersed in the team atmosphere on campus.

When asked about the biggest challenge she faces as a competitive diver, she shares that she works to manage anxiety at competitions. We think it takes an incredible amount of bravery and poise to dive, especially at her competitive level. We can’t wait to follow her success!

Congratulations, Allie! We will be praying for you and for our Class of 2020, as you make this exciting transition to college!
