Spotlight on Jonathan Durham

Recent graduate Jonathan Durham is the definition of an all-around student! He became part of the Wake Christian Academy family as a freshman, and accomplished a lot during his years at WCA.

Jonathan became an Eagle Scout at the age of 13, upon completion of his final service project, to build benches and a sign for his church. His family attends Victory Church in Raleigh, N.C., and Jonathan is still active with scouts. Even though he doesn’t go on as many camping trips now, he mentors younger scouts. Jonathan says he intends to keep his charge to give-back to the organization that helped prepare him for leadership.

He brought a ton of energy to the field, as he led our Bulldog Regiment Marching Band as drum major. He also served as captain of our track and swim teams, and played tenor saxophone in our Symphonic Wind Ensemble and in our Gideon’s Line Jazz Band. Jonathan sang vocals and played guitar with our Praise and Worship team.

Future goals include earning a degree in biochemistry with a minor in math, at NC State University. He hopes to become a clinical lab scientist.

When asked about his experience at WCA, Jonathan says, “Though it may seem as if we have Bible class just because we are a Christian school, it is because WCA is showing that in the coming times, we need to be able to stand and faithfully say, ‘I believe.’ And that is exactly what WCA is preparing us to do. In college, there will probably be people who question (me) because of my faith, and WCA has prepared me to not waver, but to be able to respond with truth.”

We are so proud of Jonathan’s leadership skills and willingness to stand for Christ!
