We will offer Before Care (7:30 am-8:45 am) and After Care (4:00 pm-5:30 pm) for families who need an extended camp day.

Build a custom “all-day” camp* and register your child for both the morning and afternoon session in the same week and receive one session of Before Care or After Care at no-charge. Once you have registered for Before and/or After Care, please contact Rebecca Baker at rebeccabaker@wakechristianacademy.com to coordinate your free session.

*There is a supervised lunch between the morning and afternoon camp sessions. Campers will need to provide their own lunch.

Session One, Week One: June 10th-June 14th

Morning - 9:00-12:00

Wacky Tacky Art (K-5th grade)

Let your creativity run wild! Wacky Tacky Art camp will be jam-packed with art fun involving paint, powders, and some surprising mediums. We will create art in some unconventional ways like splatters, water balloons, and even noodles! This camp is all about encouraging campers to use their imagination and explore their artistic abilities. Be sure to have those art smocks on and get ready for some wacky art!

Cost: $100.00

What to bring: Water bottle and a snack each day. "Play" clothes are a great idea, as we will be playing and using lots of messy materials during the day.

Football Skills (3-5th grade)

Whether your player is experienced or picking up a football for the first time, this camp is for them! Coach Barger will focus on proper football fundamentals and techniques, placing boys into appropriate skill levels and age groups to grow. Not only will they be exposed to the ins-and-outs of the game, but they will also be coached-on self-discipline, consideration of others and how to work as a team. Proper conditioning and nutrition are also introduced!

Volleyball Skills (2-8th grade)

Coach Branch and some of our varsity volleyball players are excited to lead this developmental camp for girls. This camp will focus on basic techniques of passing, serving, setting, and attacking and developing an improved technique in each area. Basic rules of the game and offensive and defensive roles will be covered. There will be multiple individual and team competitions with games and special prizes awarded for various activities during the week. This camp will be a fun and positive environment for everyone and a great opportunity to learn more about volleyball. Campers will be placed in age and skill-appropriate groups during play and instruction times.

Cake Wars (K-3rd grade)

"On your mark... Get set... BAKE!" Bakers, get your decorating hands ready, because the 2019 Cake Wars are about to commence! Campers will be put through cake challenges that focus on decorating techniques and skills. Bakers will learn the “in's and out's” of basic decorating and will have their creativity put to the test. With cake, icing, and a little friendly competition, this camp is sure to be a winner!

Conquering Middle School (6-8th grade)

This program is designed to help students prepare for middle school expectations. Students will learn to identify personal learning styles and use this knowledge to create effective study strategies. Students can be set-up for success in middle school by understanding how to take effective notes from lectures, textbooks, and other media; and utilizing technology to enhance study skills. Our staff will help our incoming middle schoolers learn to establish effective personal organizational systems, develop sound time/task management strategies to handle both classroom and co-curricular activities, and develop efficient test taking skills.

Afternoon - 1:00-4:00

Ahoy Mateys! (K-5th grade)

Arrrg! Ahoy Mateys! Are you ready to board ship for a fantastic pirate adventure? We will be exploring the deep blue sea to dive into the best treasure of all...God's Word! Along the way, we may run into some interesting creatures and amazing ocean animals. There issure to be lots of crafts, games, and activities to help us find our treasure. Our ship mates will sail over to Adventure Landing to check out the best pirate ship in town and play a round of mini-golf (or two!). We’ll make a stop at Pelican’s Snoballs for a yummy ocean treat. Each day, campers will take home a pirate souvenir to add to their treasure chest. We’re ready for you to come aboard the Salty Bulldog for the best adventure in the deep blue!

Football Skills (6-8th grade)

Football players, join Coach Barger for a week of football conditioning! Coach Barger will spend the week developing skills of the game, while placing boys into groups according to their skill levels and ages. Not only will campers advance their abilities, but will make strides in self-discipline, consideration of others and working as a team. Proper conditioning, nutrition, and weight training techniques are also introduced!

College Preparation (10-12th grade)

This camp is designed for high school students in grades 10th-12th, who want to get a head start on their future! Come take a look at submitted college essays from top schools around the country and brainstorm, draft, and complete your perfect college admissions essay (while also having it edited and reviewed)! We will have five days to write a memorable, unique, and impressive essay that is a true reflection of who you are, but we can do it! We will also explore some college campuses virtually and in person, with trips to local college campuses in our area. We'll talk about what it takes to apply to colleges and gather information to help students feel better prepared for the college experience. Bring your questions and be prepared to learn. "Oh, the places you'll go" with the things you learn in this course!

Drama Camp (4-7th grade)

Lights! Camera! Action! Join us for the debut of the Bulldog Theatre's first summer production of "The Spies of Jericho". This camp focuses on technical lessons on voice and stage presence as well as some “behind-the-scenes” tips. Campers will learn a small play and practice it throughout the week in order to be performance-ready on Friday for parents and friends! We will be working on the choreography, music, and set design aspects of the theater and how to put on a show worthy of the stage. We only have five short days to put it together, so be ready to work! Let's break a leg!

STEAM Engineers (3-6th grade)

You've been given popsicle sticks, straws, rubber bands and a little tape - what are you gonna make?! In STEAM Engineers Camp, we will combine the fun of science, technology, engineering, art, and math to create some seriously awesome projects! Join us for a week of building and learning about concepts such as force and motion, velocity and gravity. We’ll help answer questions like, “What makes a wheel turn??” and, "How do rockets get into space?". Each day, your camper will bring a new creation home. Join us! But don't forget those thinking caps!

Debate Camp (6-9th grade)

Join WCA’s very own Mrs. Wullschleger for our first Middle School Debate Camp! Students will learn the fundamentals of public speaking and argumentation, enabling them to develop their presentation and debating skills to boost confidence and self-esteem. This camp offers students the chance to improve their communication skills in a safe and secure environment all while having fun!

Session One, Week Two: June 17th-June 21st

Morning - 9:00-12:00

American Girl (K-4th grade)

Girls just want to have fun! This week, girls will enjoy a week of fun with creative crafts, dressing their dolls, and a super fun "spa" day on Friday. All activities will include our doll friends and help our little ladies learn about the importance of friendship and kindness. By the end of the week, your doll will have all of her own accessories and treats, just like you!

Baseball Camp (2-5th grade)

Coach Barger and his staff will cover some basic fundamentals of baseball to help your camper become a better player. Campers will be placed in an age-appropriate groups that match their skill level to improve technical skills. Tips on proper stance, grip, and bat selection will be shared. Players will enjoy drills that reinforce proper hitting mechanics as well as infield and outfield drills for fielding and throwing the ball. Boys will be encouraged to incorporate sportsmanship and faith into their week of hard work and practice to elevate their baseball skills!

Beginners Graphic Design (4-8th grade)

This camp for budding designers will introduce students to the fundamentals of graphic design, using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. They will learn skills used in the design process, use of colors and typography, and a few basic design features that go into making a great product. Throughout the week, students will create projects to build a “portfolio” to take home, along with a notebook full of useful tips and tricks to refer-to after camp is over. By the end of the week, campers will develop a final project piece that allows them to focus on what they are passionate about and to test out the skills they have acquired this week!

International Chefs (2-5th grade)

Pack your bags, we’re going around the world! Throughout the week, we will learn to cook a traditional meal in each country we “visit”. From America, Greece, and Italy, to Mexico and China - you’ll be ready to cook a meal from many cultures! Campers will need to bring water to camp each day and wear “play” clothes. We will be working with lots of ingredients and it may get a little messy.

Girls Basketball Skills (4-8th grade)

WCA’s Coach Hensley will focus on the fundamentals of basketball for girls of all levels of experience. Emphasis will be placed on developing dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive skills. In addition, the girls will have opportunities to compete in a variety of activities, play games, and have a great time. Girls will be placed in appropriate age and skill level groups during the camp.

UServe (6-11th grade)

UServe Camp has returned bigger and better! This full-day camp will be held from 9:00 to 4:00 each day. Students will work alongside staff to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community working with organizations like With Love from Jesus, among others. To assist in some of our projects, we would greatly appreciate donations of the following items: bags of uncooked rice, bags of uncooked beans, cleaning supplies, hygiene items, and ziploc bags. In everything that we do, it will be our mission to bring glory to God and blessings to those we meet!

Afternoon - 1:00-4:00

Advanced Graphic Design (6-9th grade)

This camp for advanced graphic designers will be a “refresher” for some students on the fundamentals of graphic design, using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. They will learn more in-depth design skills, color theory, and typography. Throughout the week, students will create projects to build a portfolio along with a notebook full of useful tips and tricks to reference after camp is over. By the end of the week, campers will develop a final project piece that allows for their creativity and passion to shine, and resembles a real-world client request. This camp will encourage your designer to take their design abilities to the next level!

Animal Planet (K-5th grade)

Get ready because it's a zoo in here! For Animal Planet week, we will learn about lots of different animals and how they live. Each camper will receive an animal guide to keep track of all the information they learn throughout the week! Our WCA Rangers will take a trip to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences for some hands-on time with the animals at the museum! During the week, we may even have some special furry visitors come to campus to join in on our fun. We'll make crafts, play games, and learn about God's amazing animal creations.

Baseball Skills (6-8th grade)

Cupcake Wars (3-6th grade)

It’s on! Do you think you have what it takes to make the most delicious cupcakes?? Come to camp this week and tryout the best recipes and see what the judges have to say. Be prepared -- some days we may have some pretty wacky ingredients you must use in your daily challenge. But don’t worry, you’ll finish each session with some yummy cupcakes to eat or take home! Campers should bring a water bottle and snack to camp each day. It is also suggested that campers wear "play clothes" as we may get a little messy!

Session One, Week Three: June 24th-June 28th

Morning - 9:00-12:00

Serving Up Hors D’Oeuvres! (1-5th grade)

Hurry to make your reservations! This five-star camp is open and needs your cooking talent. Throughout the week, we will learn how to make yummy appetizers to share with friends and family. After this week, you’ll be ready to cook with the best chefs in the world! Campers should bring a water bottle to camp each day and wear clothes okay to get messy in.

Cheerleading (K-3th grade)

We’ve got spirit, yes we do! We’ve got spirit how ‘bout you?! Cheerleading Camp is designed for the aspiring young ladies who want to develop cheer skills in an exciting, creative and fun atmosphere. Campers will learn individual cheer skills, basic tumbling, partner stunts and most importantly, teamwork! Get ready for a spirit-filled week! Appropriate shorts and t-shirt for dance and movement should be worn along with tennis shoes.

Beginner’s Golf (4-8th grade)

This camp for beginner golfers will focus on the rules of the game, equipment needed, skills and technique. Campers will enjoy learning to drive and putt the ball for part of the week on campus. With the help of PGA certified golfer, Spencer Hensley, we will visit Eagle Ridge Golf Club for some helpful lessons. Clubs may be brought and proper attire should be worn.

Boys Weight Training (9-12th grade)

WCA's Coach Barger will be leading a high school boys weight training camp! We will focus on proper weight training, incorporating many cardiovascular benefits and techniques to build muscle in a healthy, educated, and safe manner. This camp will cover how muscles work, how they grow and develop, nutrition and the role muscle development plays in fat loss. We’ll talk about how to safely exercise using proper form and technique.

Krafty Kids (K-5th grade)

Campers will enjoy a fun-filled week of super cool crafts with Haley! Use your creativity and imagination to make awesome crafts come to life. Each day, we will make crafts to take home and on projects throughout the week. Crafting can get messy, so please be sure to wear appropriate clothes each day!

Math is Fun?!? (3-5th grade)

“When will I ever need this in life?” “What is the purpose of math”? This summer, Mrs. Lucas will help us explore how math is used in everyday life. We’ll also discover that math really can be fun! Come join us as we try to increase your love of math, in fun, yet practical ways! Challenge accepted???

Creative Writing (4-8th grade)

Join us in Creative Writing Camp and see where your imagination takes you! Campers will learn about the importance of word choice and imagery in the creative writing process. We will use the week to create and finalize a short story, complete with illustrations and publishing, to display at the end of camp. After completing this camp, your writer will be inspired to become the next best selling author!

All Sports (2-5th grade)

All Sports camp is just like it sounds… we play ALL the sports! Join us this week for outdoor games, frisbee golf, rock climbing and more! Campers will learn techniques and skills needed to play each sport in this mini-lesson style camp. Whether your child is a beginner or has been playing their whole life, this camp is for them! All players, all levels, all sports! It is always a good idea to apply sunscreen before arriving.

Cheerleading (4-6th grade)

Moose on the Loose! (K-5th grade)

There's a moose on the loose!! We need your help to find Fred the Moose and help him get back home! In this goal-oriented camp, students will work as a team to complete tasks and activities to help find Fred. There will be some hiking, maybe some "camping" and definitely some s'mores! Campers will learn the basics of camping and some outdoor skills throughout the week. We will take a hike through Umstead Park, learning about the different types of trees, leaves, and maybe even little creatures that live in our woods. Next, we'll head over to Triangle Rock Club to learn how to properly climb the mountains we may encounter while searching for Fred. This week is sure to be tons of fun. Won't you help us??

Advanced Cake Decorating Skills (7-10th grade)

Have you mastered the basics of cake decorating and want to take your skills to the next level? Join us in Advanced Cake Decorating where you will learn how to take your decorating skills from beginner to “professional”. By the end of the week, you will be ready to take custom orders and provide beautiful cakes!

Session Two, Week Four: July 8th-July 12th

Morning - 9:00-12:00

Animation Station (3-6th grade)

Come explore the behind the scenes world of animation! With our newly updated camp curriculum for 2019, campers will learn drawing techniques and computer programming used to create many of the animated creatures we know and love! We’ll consider the work of some famous animators, like the team at Disney, to learn from their work among many others. Students will be using Scratch Animation, a free online animation program, to learn and develop their animation skills. Each camper will receive a workbook to follow and take home with them at the end of the week to continue to grow their skills after camp! By the end of the week, we will have our characters walking, talking, and moving all around the screen.

Girls’ Weight Training (9-12th grade)

WCA's own Mrs. Barger will be leading a high school girls weight training camp! Weight training is a specific type of strength training that specifically uses weights to achieve its goals. This week, we will focus on proper weight training, incorporating many cardiovascular benefits and techniques to build muscle in a healthy, educated, and safe manner. Christmas Cooking in July (2-5th grade)

Christmas trees, gingerbread men, and snowflakes… OH MY! It’s Christmas in July! Join Mrs. Angela for a fun filled week of holiday baking where you’ll learn to bake cookies, Christmas breakfast, and candy goodies to spread some Christmas in July cheer! Campers will need to bring water to camp each day and wear “play” clothes. We will be working with lots of ingredients and it will be fun and messy!

Trash to Treasure (3-7th grade)

Have you ever seen an empty water bottle and thought, “Hey! I bet I could make something out of that….”, then this camp is JUST for you! In Trash to Treasure Camp, we will take things that most people would toss in the trash and make awesome creations with them. Throughout the week we will be learning how to repurpose everyday objects to make things like wallets, piggy banks, bird feeders, and more! At the end of the week, our “Treasure Makers” will have a competition to see how far your creativity will take you!

Girls Soccer Skills (2-5th grade)

This camp, offered for girls-only, is designed to create a challenging environment to help participants improve their individual skill level. Campers will be placed in appropriate age groups and skill levels for instruction. Emphasis will be placed on developing both technical skills and tactical field awareness in every player.

Babysitting Camp (6-9th grade)

Great babysitters are always in high demand. Be prepared for all the adventures babysitting can bring by learning some basic safety tips for watching children. Campers will design business cards and flyers to advertise. Learn keys to running a successful babysitting service, like organization, ethics, and how to provide great childcare. Create a babysitting kit to take to jobs so that you can entertain children of a variety of ages. The cost of this course includes the $30 fee for Red Cross CPR and first aid certification plus the Babysitting 101 curriculum.

World Travelers (K-4th grade)

Passports... check! Airplane tickets.... check! We're ready to go! Join us for a week of world “traveling” around the world. We've changed our itinerary since last summer and have decided to travel to new places. Prepare to see the sights of Spain, Hawaii, Ireland, and Japan! As we visit each new place, we will get a stamp on our “passports”, go sightseeing, and get a taste of some traditional foods. Flight 412 from WCA is ready for take off.... all we need is you!

LEGO World (3-6th grade)

Come explore the world of Legos! They are so much more than just little building bricks. They can help you to create some awesome, useful items and learn about technology as well. With the use of legos and some other tools, students will learn about constructing buildings, architecture and the wiring needed to make things run. We'll build race cars, homes, and many other brick creations. This STEM camp is created to help campers integrate science, math, and engineering through the use of fun tools, Legos!

Kingdom Kids (K-5th grade)

Fair ladies and gentleman! You are cordially invited to the Kingdom Kids Camp at Bulldog Castle! This week, our ladies and knights will take tasks fit for the best in the kingdom. We'll talk about what good Kingdom builders do and learn more about our one true King, Jesus! There will be "jousting", jester tricks, and quests to complete. And there is sure to be lots of games, activities, and crafts fit for knights and princesses. We'll end the week with a feast and a Masquerade "Ball" with fun and games. We'll travel to the kingdom of Marbles for some royal fun! Then we'll visit Krispy Kreme for a pastry prepared for WCA's finest. We can't wait to see you in the castle!

Session Two, Week Five: July 15th-July 19th

Morning - 9:00-12:00

Storybook Adventures in Kindergarten (Incoming K only)

Pete the Cat, The Pout Pout Fish, and Dr. Seuss will all join our campers this week as we take a trip through storybook classics! This camp designed for incoming WCA Kindergarten students will offer games, crafts, and other activities centered around a different storybook each day. Campers may dress-up as a character from the book theme for the day. On Friday, we will have a Storybook Ball where campers can dress-up as ANY character from their favorite book! We hope you will join us for a fun adventure into the world of WCA with some of our favorite storybook characters.

Basics of Photography (3-6th grade)

Campers, do you love being behind the camera? Then this camp is for you! Through the course of the week, we will look at how cameras work, how to take a great photo and look at different editing skills to use when finishing up your photos. By the end of the camp week, every camper will take home a portfolio of photos and a notebook of tips, tricks, and information to help your photographer continue to grow in their skills! Campers should bring a camera with a strap to camp each day. It is also helpful to have a camera bag to ensure that we keep our equipment extremely safe!

Bulldog Bakery (K-5th grade)

The Bulldog Bakery is open for business and ready to train the next set of great bakers! Join us for a week as we make all kinds of sweets, treats, breads and cakes. Campers will put together a Baking Book to take home packed full of tips, tricks, and recipes to bake for friends and family! Campers should wear clothes appropriate to bake-in. Some of these recipes may get a little messy, but are sure to be delicious!

It’s Your Turn! Games Camp (2-5th grade)

Boys Soccer Skills (2-5th grade)

Boys Soccer Skills (2-5th grade) is for players still learning the basics of the game or have played a little already. This week, we will focus on base level skills and building a few new ones. By the end of the week, we hope that campers will be excited about all they have learned. Soccer cleats and shin guards should be brought each day as well.

Advanced Photography (7-10th grade)

Do you love being behind the camera and want to learn more about how to capture quality photos? Then join us for Advanced Photography Camp! Through the course of the week, we will discuss different settings on the professional camera, what it takes to create a great photo and perfect some editing skills to use when finishing up your photos. We will step beyond the photography basics by learning to shoot in Manual Mode, change our settings between locations, and choose the style of photos you want to produce. By the end of the week, every student will leave with a portfolio of photos, a notebook of tips, tricks, and information to help your photographer continue to grow in their skills! Campers should bring a camera with a strap to camp each day. It is also helpful to have a camera bag to ensure that we keep our equipment safe!

Spy Academy (K-5th grade)

I spy fun times ahead! We have a special mission this week...to uncover the special clues that lead us to the one, true God! Each spy kid will receive their proper spy credentials and learn what it takes to be a good spy. Campers will complete training and graduate with a special certificate in Investigating and Spy Fitness! We will grow stronger and smarter, all while being aware of how we can "spy" ways to help those around us and "spy" God in all that we do! We will take a special trip to the SBI Laboratory and complete an important Scavenger Hunt Mission at Crowder Park! We hope you will come "crack the case" with us!

Cupcake Wars (6-8th grade)

It’s on! Do you think you have what it takes to make the most delicious cupcakes?? Come to camp this week to try out the best recipes and see what the judges have to say. Be prepared -- some days we may have some pretty wacky ingredients you must use in your daily challenge. But don’t worry, you’ll finish each session with some yummy cupcakes to eat or take home!

Fun and Fitness (K-5th grade)

This week, campers will be encouraged to create solid fitness habits while having fun! Throughout the week, we will play games to incorporate cardio and stretching into our daily routine, and we’ll take a look at different sports that are played. Campers will learn about how their muscles work and making healthy choices with their food and activities! We'll have jump rope challenges, relay races, and much much more!

Cake Wars (4-7th grade)

"On your mark... Get set... BAKE!" Bakers, get your mixers ready because the 2019 Cake Wars are about to commence. Campers will be put through several cake challenges, focusing on baking techniques and decorating skills. Bakers will learn the “in's and out's” of decorating, with their creativity put to the test. With cake, icing, and a little friendly competition, this camp is sure to be a winner!

Intermediate Golf Camp (4-8th grade)

This camp is an advanced golf skills camp for intermediate golfers. We will review the basics of golf rules of play and improving our techniques. With the help of PGA certified golfer, Spencer Hensley, we will practice on the school practice fields as well as at Eagle Ridge Golf Club.

Cooking Extravaganza (1-5th grade)

Come one, come all! It's a Bulldog Cooking Extravaganza! Join Mrs. Angela for some fun cooking challenges that are sure to be full of yummy treats! Campers will learn basic techniques that are useful in the kitchen along with kitchen safety.

The Voice (4-8th grade)

Do you want to share your voice with the world? Want to learn a little more about the art of singing? Then join us for WCA's version of The Voice! While it isn't a formal competition, we will be choosing songs, practicing and preparing for a special performance on Friday! With our new curriculum, campers will learn about harmonies, tones, and hitting those perfect notes! Warm up those voices...we're ready for you!

WCA Softball Skills Camp will offer time for female softball players to perfect their skills. This camp is not just for veteran softball players! Join us even if you've never played a game. We will discuss fielding technique, perfect our batting skills, and we’ll learn more about what it takes to play successfully in a game setting. Campers should bring bats, glove and cleats to camp each day! You’ll need sunscreen too.

All Sports (6-8th grade)

All Sports camp is just like it sounds… we play ALL the sports! Join us this week for outdoor games, frisbee golf, rock climbing and much more! Campers will learn skills needed to play each sport in this mini-lesson style camp. Whether your child is a beginner or has been playing their whole life, this camp is for them! All players, all levels, all sports! Campers will need to bring a water bottle and snack to camp with them each day. It is always a good idea to apply sunscreen before arriving.

Superheroes! (K-5th grade)

Boom! Bam! Kapow! That's the sound of Heroes saving the world! This week, we will be training heroes for the kingdom through games, fitness, and activities. Campers will graduate Hero School after completing "Flight Training" at SkyZone.

Study Skills (6-9th grade)

Study Skills Camp focuses on several areas to help students achieve success in the upcoming school year. Students will learn more on the importance of organization, reading comprehension, test-taking skills, note-taking, and time management. Each student will receive their own notebooks and planners for emphasizing organization and time management skills. We will learn how to tackle studying with the use of memory and mnemonics, as well as exploring strategies that work best for each student. We will focus on identifying important key information from notes and passages, condensing the notes to reference later during test-taking. Lastly, students will learn a few tips on how to prepare for tests in a way that makes them feel relaxed and confident for the test ahead. We hope that after this camp, your student will be that much more successful in their next year of school!

Fashion Design (4-8th grade)

This week, campers will be learning the ins-and-outs of fashion design. We’ll sketch designs and discuss color schemes, pattern mixing and the actual creation of clothes. We will have a visit from a Fashion Design expert and learn how to use the tools of the trade. All campers will leave Friday with a sketch portfolio and hopefully even more of an interest in fashion design!
